iPhones might soon show you how long until your phone is charged
iphone, News, SmartphonesOne of the features I love the most about Android phones is that many of them will show you charging information on the lock screen when plugged in. Now it seems like iPhones are on track to get something similar.
9to5Mac has spotted a bit of code in the second developer preview of iOS 18.2 called “batteryIntelligence,” which will determine how long it will take for your iPhone to charge. The report suggests that people will have an option to receive a notification with a charging estimate of how long it will take to reach 80%. That said, this is all undercover code for now, so it might change before release or never see the light of day.
Since the code is unfinished, it might make its way into the full version of 18.2, that’s rumoured to launch in the first week of December, or it might be part of a later update. The name BatteryIntelligence also seems to suggest that it’s an AI feature, so it might only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro, 16 and 16 Pro devices. That said, for years, Macs have had battery charging estimates without the use of AI, so it would be strange to see it needed for the iPhone.
